The STIHL MS 400 CM petrol chainsaw is a new development and optimally designed for professional use in forestry.
It is particularly suitable for felling, delimbing and processing timber in medium-sized stands.

STIHL M-Tronic: the fully electronic engine management system regulates the ignition timing and fuel metering in every working situation, taking into account external conditions such as temperature, altitude and fuel quality.
The STIHL Ematic system achieves the optimum between sufficient chain lubrication and low chain oil consumption.
The quantity-regulating oil pump reduces the chainsaw's oil consumption by up to 50 percent.
Combination lever with stop function: only one start position is needed on the combination lever; after switching off, the operating lever automatically returns to the operating position thanks to the stop function; the warm machine can therefore be restarted immediately.

A control system in the carburetor, the compensator, ensures that, despite increasing contamination of the air filter, engine performance, exhaust emissions and fuel consumption remain almost constant over a long period of time by means of pressure equalization.
The side-mounted chain tensioning system allows for protected, easy and quick retensioning and replacement of the chain.
Manual decompression: the decompression valve makes starting the engine easier; when starting, opening the valve allows some of the compressed mixture to escape from the cylinder; this protects the starting system and requires less force on the starter rope.
Electric grip heating – for use in freezing temperatures; the electric grip heating in the handlebar and rear grip can be easily switched on as needed; the grip heating consists of maintenance-free and wear-free heating foils.
Thanks to the electric carburetor heater, you can work without problems even in freezing weather conditions; there's no need to keep an eye on the temperature, as the heating element activates automatically at critical temperatures thanks to a temperature-dependent on/off control; the heater then warms the carburetor and thus prevents icing.
